Planning poker for discussion-rich items
Use private, simultaneous cards when implementation knowledge is distributed and you want differences to surface. It works well for a manageable set of stories that are ready for a focused team conversation.

XS through XL give stakeholders a fast way to compare many initiatives without implying numerical precision. Use them while shaping a roadmap or triaging a large backlog; later, split and refine the items that move closer to delivery.

Affinity estimation when the backlog is large
